Remember Dr. Glen Tibbits

IN MEMORIAM It is with great sadness that we announce our cherished member of the BCREGMED steering committee, Dr. Glen Tibbits of Port Moody, BC, passed away on November 10, 2025, at the age of 76, following a three-year battle with ALS. He was widely respected as an accomplished scientist, dedicated educator, and generous mentor whose influence extended well beyond his own research program. Dr. Tibbits was a Distinguished Professor at Simon Fraser University, with joint appointments in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology, and in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Applications Now Open! 2025-2029 Research Funding Competition SCN’s national research funding competition supports world-class, translational, regenerative medicine research, across the research continuum, to facilitate health, social and economic benefits for Canadians. The Stem Cell Network is pleased to announce the first of two national research funding competitions planned for SCN’s 2025-2029 funding cycle. The Round 1 competition is officially open as of Tuesday, September 3, 2024, and offers 24- and 36-month awards. Six regenerative medicine research programs are available that focus on innovation, clinical translation, policy and societal impact and commercialization.
